Pilgrimage to Mount Athos
The Holy Mount Athos is the largest and the most important Orthodox community in Greece. It is the source of faith, to the millions of faithful Orthodox Christians, and is also visited by believers of other religions.
The tour groups are usually three to five participants, and are always accompanied by a local qualified member of our travel agency. We also take over the entire process, such as filling in the permit application, which is necessary at each visit of the Holy Mountain.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Departure from your point of origin, transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Thessaloniki.
Day 2: Early in the morning we drive from Thessaloniki to Ouranoupolis. We board the first ferry and go to Dafni. From there we go to the monastery where we will stay.
Day 3: We visit a Monastery on Mount Athos. We introduce ourselves with the
Monks and learn about their way of life. Overnight at the monastery.
Day 4: Another Monastery visit. This is our last day on the Holy Mountain Athos.
We dedicate this day to ourselves and our last contact with this holy place.
Overnight in the monastery.
Day 5: After the service, we will continue our journey to Dafni. From there, we continue to Ouranoupolis and then to Thessaloniki where we will spend the night.
Day 6: After breakfast we transfer to Thessaloniki Airport.
The Holy Mountain is a place of faith. It is a pilgrimage and not for holidays in the traditional sense. (We request you to show respect)
General Information
• All accommodation on the Holy Mount Athos monasteries are in shared rooms.
• For your stay on the sacred mountain you will need a residence permit. We take care of all the necessary paperwork for you.
• The clothing of the pilgrims should be corresponding to the location.
• Only men are allowed to visit Mount Athos
