Tour the island of Cyprus on this wonderful 8 day tour!

Itinerary:

DAY 1: FLIGHT TO – LARNACA

Flights to Larnaca, arriving in Larnaca, reception by our tour guide. City tour in Larnaca and then bus transfer to our hotel. Room distribution and dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2: FAMAGUSTA
We drive to the nearby border village located Kyrenia. From a viewing , the visitor can look over the “Green Line” over until Amochostos (Famagousta), he ghost town. In the Middle Ages it was a prosperous port city. After a short bus ride we reach the old town Famagousta. The completely preserved city walls surround remains of magnificent palaces and churches. The former Nicolaus – Cathedral, today Lala – Mustafa – Pasha – mosque was built after the model of the Cathedral of Reims. In the nearby Othello tower once stabbed the Venetian commander from jealousy because of his wife Desdemona. Here Shakespeare drew the material for his play Othello. After lunch we visit the ancient Kingdom of Salamis and the adjoining monastery of St. Barnabas, who founded the Orthodox Church of Cyprus and is buried here. Return to our hotel in Larnaca.

DAY 3: NICOSIA (LEFKOSIA) – NATIONAL MUSEUM BYZANTINE MUSEUM – ST. JOHN’S CATHEDRAL – LAIKI AGORA – CATHERINE CHURCH
After breakfast we drive to Nicosia, visit and tour of the National Museum of the most important archaeological collections of Cyprus. Then we visit the Byzantine Museum. Afterwards drive to St. John’s Church, the Church of the archbishop. We go to lunch in the old town “Laiki Agora”, after lunch we visit St. Catherine’s Church in the northern part of the city and the St. Sophia church from the 14th century. Both have been converted into mosques. Afterwards we drive to Lemesos (Limassol). Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Lemesos (Limassol).

DAY 4: TROODOS MOUNTAINS – MONASTERY KYKKOS – KAKOPETRIA – CHURCH OF ASINOU – GALATA – LIMASSOL
After breakfast, drive to the eastern Troodos Mountain Range over Prodoromos and Pedoulas to Kykkos Monastery, the largest and most important monastery in Cyprus. Tour of the monastery, in possession of the monastery is one of the three icons attributed to the Virgin Mary icons painted by the Apostol Luke. Lunch in Kakopetria and then proceed to the Church of Asinou from the 11th Century. With its beautiful Byzantine frescoes. Return to the village of Galata and visit the Byzantine roof churches from the 13th century. In the evening continue to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: PAPHOS – KOURION – SANCTUARY OF APOLLO – DIONYSUS HOUSE – CAVE MONASTERY SAINT NEOPHYTOS
After breakfast we leave Limassol and continue to Paphos. On the way we visit the Ancient City of Kourion and the sanctuary of Apollo Hylates. Check-in at Paphos and visit of the mosaics in the House of Dionysos, and the famous royal tombs of the Hellenistic period. Lunch with a subsequent stroll in the old harbor of Paphos. Then drive to the cave monastery of Saint Neophytos from the 12th century . In the late afternoon we reach our hotel in Paphos. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 6: WINE VILLAGE OMODOS – WINERY LAMPOUDI – ANOGHIA
After breakfast, we have a day trip to Omodos. Then a journey along the Wine & Olive Street. In the wine village Omodos we visit the abandoned monastery and admire the oldest wine press in the world. Then we are invited to wine tasting and enjoy fine wines in the cellar of the winemaking family Lambouri. Our next goal is the only “olive-park” in the Mediterranean, Oleastros, in the village Anoghia. We learn a lot about the cultivation of the olive on the island, its versatility and why it is so unique to human health. The expert reveals what to look for when tasting the oil. Then we fortify ourselves with a traditional lunch in the village tavern before we continue. An afternoon drive back to our hotel in Paphos. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 7: KATO – PANI AKOURDALEIA – BOTANICAL MUSEUM – AGRICULTURAL MUSEUM
After breakfast we head to Kato and Pano Akourdaleia north of Pafos at a distance of 23 km is the village Akourdaleia divided into Pano (Upper) and Kato (Lower -) – Akourdaleia. The village is built on a hill, the houses follow the characteristic local architectural style. The place name comes from the French expression “a cour de l’eau”, which means in the path of the water. The landscape of the village of the valley of Chrysochous is rich in vegetation with grapes, carob trees, nut trees, citrus trees and wheat. Everything invites visitors to explore. Akourdaleia participates in the project “Laona” to revive the Cypriot countryside. In Pano Akourdaleia there is the Botanical Museum (the first of its kind in Cyprus). Ideal for botanists and nature lovers. In Kato Akourdaleia you will find the small, renovated Byzantine church of salvation, and the mill, which was built next to an impressive gorge, just 30 minutes walk from the village. In the village we visit the local agricultural museum. Lunch and then back to our hotel in Paphos. The afternoon is free. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 8: PAPHOS – FLIGHT BACK TO YOUR POINT OF ORIGIN
After breakfast, transfer to Paphos airport and flight back to your point of origin.
