Explore the Island of Crete and her wonderful archeological sites on this 8 day trip!

Itinerary:

Day 1: HERAKLION
Flight from chosen airport to Heraklion: Check-in at hotel in Heraklion area for 7 nights.

Day 2: KERA, PSYCHRO CAVE, KRITSA, LATO
Excursion to Kera: Tour to the church of the monastery Panagia Kardiotissa. Then you go to the fertile Lassithi plateau with the many windmills: Ascent or donkey ride (optional) to Psychro Cave, which according to Greek mythology where Zeus was born. We continue the path to Kritsa at the foot of the mount Dicti: Church Panagia Kera with rich frescoes. After that to Lato, a district of Doric Greek immigrants.

Day 3: HERAKLION, KNOSSOS
Excursion to Heraklion: Visit the tomb of the great Greek poet Nikos Kazantzakis (Zorba); Guided tour of the Archaeological Museum, which has the unique collection in Greece gives us the full picture of Minoan art. Then tour to Knossos Minoan palaces which have had a greater part of them rebuilt.

Day 4: KOURTALIOTIKO CANYON, PREVELI
Stroll through the impressive Kourtaliotiko canyon, located on the south coast of Crete, to the monastery of Preveli. On our return we have the ability to descend to the small church of St. Nicholas with waterfalls.

Day 5: PHAISTOS, MATALA, AGIOS IOANNIS, GORTYN
Excursion to the impressive scenic Messara plain and the ruins of the Minoan palace of Phaistos. Then go to the small Palace of the Holy Trinity.After that we will visit the coast of Messara bay in the picturesque fishing village of Matala. Tour in the small church of Saint Paul in Agios Ioannis. We continue to Gortyn, we visit the Conservatory with carved Doric law code (c. 500 BC) and the Basilica of Titus.

Day 6: TILISSOS, RETHYMNO
Excursion to Tilissos, exposed three Minoan mansions. Then continue to the Monastery of Arkadi, the Cretan “national shrine”. We continue to Rethymno: Ride at the Venetian harbor.

Day 7: FREE DAY OR OPTIONAL EXCURSION
Free Day. Optional excursion: Excursion in Malia with the excavations of the Minoan palace. Then route the wine region Archanes: Guided tour of the Minoan peak sanctuary at Anemospilia; Visit a winery with wine tasting.

Day 8: RETURN HOME
Return by bus to Heraklion airport and return flight.
